2011 Corvette Z06 Auctioned at Barrett-Jackson

The first 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition sold this weekend at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Florida:

The car that takes the crown, however, as the 2010 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach collector car event's highest-selling car, is Lot No. 678, the 2011 Chevy Corvette Z06 Carbon, with a hammer price of a whopping $270,000.

The first of a limited run of 500, the Corvette Z06 Carbon is a special edition Corvette which draws from 50 years of Le Mans racing heritage to combine the superlative handling attributes of the ZR1 chassis with the lightweight LS7 Z06 engine. Thus, it is considered to be the most track-ready Corvette yet produced. Available in either Inferno Orange Metallic or Supersonic Blue, the Z06 Carbon also sports several carbon-fiber aerodynamic pieces, including a front splitter, side spoilers, and a raised hood. The winning bidder will be able to order the car personalized to their choice of color, engine, transmission, and other factory-installed equipment, as well as have the chance to travel to GM's Wixom Performance Build Center to witness the LS7 engine being built, and finally receive delivery at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.
